Today’s practice didn’t bring a new sensation or insight so much as a shift in how I was paying attention to the ones I already know about. Instead of waiting for something to happen during the sit, I found myself just watching the pattern of my own attention — how often it moves, where it goes, how quickly it comes back.

What Today Looked Like
10 minutes of breathing, same four-count in, six-count out, with the pause at the top of the inhale now feeling like a natural part of the cycle rather than an added step. Body scan, and today I tried something slightly different — instead of moving through the body in order, I just let attention land wherever it wanted and stayed there a moment before moving on. Jaw again, then an unexpected one: my feet, which I don’t think I’ve consciously noticed once all week. Silent meal, dinner. Slipped back into a bit of planning-mode halfway through, similar to day three, but caught it faster this time and came back to actually tasting the food.
What I Noticed
The real theme today was watching my own attention move rather than trying to control it. Early in the week, every wandering thought felt like a small failure to correct. Today it felt more like weather — thoughts arriving, staying briefly, passing. I didn’t get pulled into any of them for long, and I didn’t fight them either. Just noticed the arrival and the departure.
The feet were an interesting addition to the body scan. There was a low tension there I’d apparently been carrying for who knows how long without any awareness of it — nothing dramatic, just a tightness that released a little once I actually looked at it.
One Honest Note
Six days in, the novelty is fully gone, and that’s not a complaint. The practice is starting to feel less like an event I schedule and more like a lens I pick up for ten minutes and then set back down. Nothing revelatory today, but a quieter kind of progress — the noticing itself is getting easier, even when there’s nothing especially interesting to notice.
